With the license for Altium being ~$120 per year for students and almost $1500 (!) professionally it would be prudent for students to instead become familiar with CircuitMaker. This program is very similar to Altium with the exception of it being free and having a few features removed. Namely all projects made using the software are open source and can be seen/used by other users and must be stored on the CircuitMaker cloud servers. This is in contrast to Altium’s private projects that can be stored locally on your computer.
